One drop of water is all it could take

Those that control irrigation in the Mancos Valley and the users that call for water have this year excelled in what they do.

There is no river.

Because there is no river, the river corridor is all but sterile. No aquatic life, no fish, no birds. Gone are the heron, kingfishers and dippers.

No ponding for ducks to protect their young. Even the geese have left.

What if, instead of 10 drops of water broadcast on fields, there were nine? Nine instead of 10 and life comes back!

That’s all it would take and all involved will have helped make the Mancos Valley a better place.

Let’s all become better stewards and do what’s right.
