Now, I’m a guy and don’t understand women, something two former wives and a daughter have frequently told me.
But listening to President Joe Biden’s recent State of the Union Address and following the weeks of post-address critical comments by so many, many women, I’m reminded that Donald Trump has the support of countless millions of American women. And I’m simply clueless and can’t figure out why that is the case.
As we speak, at least 26 women have alleged the former president of sexual misconduct since the 1970s. And a recent jury found him liable for sexual abuse and awarded the accuser, E. Jean Carroll, $5 million for assaulting her in the 1990s.
Too, he has voiced strong support of the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe V. Wade. And don’t forget the videotape in which Trump chatted about the norms of being a famous man: “They (women) let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ’ em by the p----.”
Now compare this old man to the old man now in the White House who has introduced legislation supporting women, who is married to educator Dr. Jill Biden and who is the first U.S. president to appoint a female as his running mate.
Now, even I, with my admitted lack of understanding of women, can detect a radical difference in the former and current president, when it comes to how they view and treat the opposite sex.
And in my gender ignorance, I wonder why so many women would favor as president an old womanizer who obviously takes pride in belittling females and taking away their rights, rather than an old man who cherishes, values and promotes members of the opposite sex.
And I ask myself whether such female Trump supporters are ignorant of his behavior and comments, or expect that of a president, or enjoy such vile behavior or simply don’t care?
So here I am, an old guy, not understanding how women could prefer such a sexually depraved and demented old guy as Trump to the current old guy in the White House?
Please, women, tell me what I’m missing here.
