The owners of the NAPA Auto Parts store in Cortez have officially opened a store in Dolores.
Jamie Daves and Jordan Owens are co-owners of both stores and third-generation Cortez store owners. Daves’ grandparents originally purchased the store in 1969, and it was passed down to her parents before she and Owens purchased the store from them in 2018.
Because the store has done so well in Cortez, and because they began to realize a NAPA store was needed in Dolores, Daves and Owens began discussing building a Dolores NAPA a few years ago. After touring the building in Dolores that now houses the new NAPA, they realized it was time to go for it.
“We kinda felt like there was a need, there’s just a lot of people over there that we felt like we could help,” Daves said.
The store had its official grand opening Oct. 31 and is fully open for business.
NAPA – National Automotive Parts Association – is an American brand founded in 1925. There are over 6,000 stores nationwide, and the stores are a “retailers’ cooperative distributing automotive replacement parts, accessories, and service items throughout North America.”
Daves emphasized that both the Cortez and Dolores NAPA stores are committed to serving the communities while supporting other local businesses in the area.
“We are absolutely local,” Daves said. “We support local, we’re locally owned, we’re third generation, we specialize in so many different things.”
The Dolores NAPA is at 101 S. 11th St. and is open from 7:30 a.m. through 6 p.m.
