Mountain Range Fitness’s Built for Life program, which was designed specifically for those in a busy stage of life and are in need of something different from the every day fitness program, has shown positive results in those who participate.
According to Mountain Range’s Director of Operations and Head Coach Brandy Carruth, this program is “designed exclusively for busy parents, professionals and those who have ‘tried everything.’”
“We work closely with clients, customizing strategies for the 165 hours they're not in the gym, to ensure long lasting results,” she said.
Program graduate Jessica Lamke added that the program is 12 weeks in length, with the option to choose how many personal training days the participant wants to take part in per week, as well as the option of nutrition coaching.
“Once a week you meet with your coach, and you do weights and measurements and discuss how your week is going,” Lamke said.
Lamke started the program in January.
“I finished it and I loved it,” she said. “It was the perfect amount of time for me to get into a routine and get in the habit of going to the gym and eating healthy and seeing how my transformation worked.”
Carruth shared that Built for Life implements a “whole life approach, helping build confidence in the clients while emphasizing a lifestyle that can be maintained, rather than something that is a so-called “quick fix.”
“This whole life approach has redefined fitness, moving beyond the concept of quick fixes and temporary solutions. We help clients to discover newfound confidence and energy to live their best lives. They will enjoy a fun and flexible weight loss journey, while becoming part of an elite group that has chosen to prioritize health and well-being,” Carruth said.
Built for Life member Adrian Bishop said that the program changed his life for the better.
After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Bishop shared that he began to gain weight due to stress and other factors.
“I got up to 385 pounds, Bishop said.
After struggling with depression and the end of his 11-year marriage, Bishop said he knew he had to make a change.
“I began looking around for a gym,” Bishop said. I needed to do something, I needed to get up because I wasn’t doing anything.”
After finding out about Mountain Range’s program, Bishop said he learned how to balance food and nutrition, as well as strengthen his mental well-being. In the program, he became part of a community.
“Everyone supports and boosts each other up. Everyone’s always giving each other props and asking how you’re doing,” Bishop said.
Lamke echoed what Bishop shared about the community aspect of the program.
“This gym has become my safe haven,” Lamke said. “I love everybody there. Every single person, the owners, all the coaches... they want you to win. They want you to succeed, they want you to see results and they want you to feel accomplished.”
Lu Singer said Built for Life has helped her face health difficulties, and Kerisha Small shared that the program has also helped change her health for the better.
“I chose to do Built for Life as I had gone through a personal, life-changing event and needed to “get back on track” with life, not knowing what was ahead of me in a health battle journey I am currently in,” Singer said. “This program has prepared me for that battle. It has made me physically, emotionally and mentally stronger to be able to take on life’s challenges.”
“I decided to join because I needed to change for health reasons. It has affected my life for the better. I feel great, not as tired, I feel so strong,” Small said. “I love feeling great.”
Singer said her coach and the other members of the program have helped make the experience even more enjoyable.
“My coach pushes me to be the best version of myself, but the entire team has your back and wants nothing but the best for you and for you to be living your best life,” Singer added.
“My favorite part of this program is my trainer. She is absolutely amazing. Not only is she a perfect fit for me, she believes in me and inspires me,” Small said. “Another part that is incredible to me is how supportive everyone in the gym are to me.”
Bishop shared his excitement about his results in the program so far.
“The whole program boosts you to be freaking successful within yourself,” Bishop said. “I stuck to it and I kept going, and I lost 107 pounds. And I couldn’t believe it. I never thought I could, it makes me like, ‘Whoa, I just want to keep going and keep trying to be the best that I can.’ I’m trying to make my 40s the best years of my life.”
Lamke added that the program helped reshape her view of herself and life, as well as establishing her “why.”
“It helped transform how I view myself and how I view life and hard things,” Lamke said. I wanted to prove to myself and to my kids that we can do hard things. And this program was hard but it was so worth it.”
Bishop said he wants to encourage those who are considering joining a gym or making a lifestyle change to go for it.
“Walk through the doors to the gym,” he said. “That’s it. No matter how long you go, if you keep going, that’s progress. Keep doing the reps and just keep going.”
“If someone’s thinking about it, they should do it,” Lamke said. “It’s only going to make you better and it wasn’t easy, but it was so worth it. It’s going to be tough, but it will be worth it in the end.”
“Just do it, it’s life changing!” Singer said.
At first, Small was worried that she would be judged by others at the gym, but she said that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
“I was so nervous to start. ‘What will they think of me? How will I be judged?’ From the very beginning, I never felt judged. They were all so welcoming and supportive. I wish more people would just try because it is worth it. It changes not only your physical appearance. It’s changed my growth mentality,” Small finished.
