Telluride Mountain Film on Tour will take place April 19 at the Dolores Community Center.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and films start at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door.
Ten independent films about outdoor adventure, extreme sports, art and the environment will be shown. The event and silent auction are Greater Dolores Action’s main fundraising events for the Dolores River Festival.
The films this year are: “Intersection: Micayla Gatto,” “Return from Desolation,” “Climbing Out of a Disaster,” “RJ Ripper,” “Rogue Elements: Corbet’s Couloir Segment,” “The Wolf Pack,” “Wildlife and the Wall,” “Frontier of Firsts,” “How to Run 100 Miles,” and “Imagination: Tom Wallisch.”
“The films are a mixture of adrenaline rush, adventure and ecology,” said organizer Susan Lisak. “It will be two hours of wonderful entertainment.”
Six different types of beer and ciders will be served from Dolores River Brewery, Mancos Brewing Co. and Outlier Cellars. Mexican food will also be for sale from Four Dope Gringos, a popular food truck business from Durango.
The silent auction has a modern twist to it this year, Lisak said. Bids are entered online via a cellphone or internet device at charityauctionstoday.com Bidding has already begun.
When someone outbids you, a text message will appear on your phone, and you can enter a new bid.
“It streamlines the process, reaches a broader audience and gives people more time to look at the auction items,” Lisak said.
For the technically challenged, volunteers will enter your bid information on computers at the event.
This year, silent auction items include a stand-up board, backpacks, customized raft frame, river trips, resort stays and ski passes.
So parents can enjoy the films kid-free, a children’s room will be set up with games and kid movies and adult supervision.
