The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform rock fall mitigation work Monday on Colorado Highway 145 between Dolores and Rico.

According to a news release, motorists should expect 30-minute delays in both directions, which will allow work crews to perform hillside operations and remove rock or debris from the roadway.

The mitigation work will be carried out between Mile Points 28 and 29 on Sept. 25 between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Flagging personnel, cones and signs will guide traffic through the work zone, and motorists should slow down and keep an eye on heavy equipment, flaggers and work crews.

Tips for drivers

Watch for workers and drive with caution.

Turn on headlights so workers and other drivers can see you.

Allow enough space between cars.

Do not speed in work zones and obey posted speed limits.

Avoid using mobile devices while driving in work zones.

Expect land shifts and merge when directed.

Don’t change lanes unnecessarily.

Be patient.
