Moreland ‘phenomenal’ as interim principal

Emily Moreland is doing a phenomenal job as interim principal of Montezuma-Cortez High School. Moreland jumped into the position when Tom Graves resigned on July 29, after only two weeks on the job. She worked diligently to ensure that when students returned on Aug. 15, the school was fully staffed so that students would have full access to all courses offered. She continues to work for the good of “every student, every day.”

The position of principal was posted on the school district website on Aug. 24, almost four weeks after Graves resigned. When the required two-week posting period has passed, I hope Moreland is hired as our principal. She is a strong leader who works tirelessly to make sure M-CHS is successful. She has a good rapport with the teachers and students, and I, for one, feel she is the best person for the job.
