More trees planned for Main Street

The downtown core in Cortez will be a bit more shady this summer.

The city will be lining Main Street from Washington to Elm street with new trees mostly in planters.

The Parks and Recreation Department plans for 18 new trees on the sidewalks from April through September.

The idea was sparked by the tree in front of Flat Belly Organics, City Manager Shane Hale said at Cortez City Council workshop in February.

“They are big and impressive visually,” he said.
