An event to present 30 Angel Armor Vests to the Cortez Police Department in honor of Sgt. Michael Moran has been postponed.
It was originally scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7, but the team presenting the rifle-rated vests are coming from Colorado Springs, and there’s inclement weather.
“The safety of our attendees is our top priority, and we cannot risk compromising it,” said a news release from Kelly Codnor, Cortez Police public information officer.
The event has not been rescheduled.
In May, Officers Jason Glacchino and Tyler Smith underwent a 273-mile bike race called the Tour de Shield616 and raised more than $12,000 that paid for the vests.
They did it to honor Moran, who was killed on duty last November.
The money they raised bought 125 of these vests, which were distributed to law enforcement statewide. Thirty will be gifted to Cortez Police soon.
