Montezuma Titans heading back to Super Bowl

Local sixth-grade football team defending their title

The Montezuma Titans will compete in the Young America Football League Super Bowl on Saturday at Bloomfield High School.

The group of local sixth-graders won the Super Bowl last year and hopes to get a repeat title. They play the Bloomfield Lions.

“The Titans are a great group and have been playing together since the third grade,” said parent Colette Wyatt.

The Titans had a regular season record of 7-1, and went on to beat Kirtland and Durango in the playoffs to make it to the Super Bowl.

They are known for their tough defense, and often prevent the other team from scoring, Wyatt said. They also have a strong running game. The team is made up of 27 boys and one girl.

“They are super-excited, and there is a good local crowd going to the game to watch them defend their title,” Wyatt said.

The game starts at 4 p.m. at Bloomfield High School, 520 N. First St., Bloomfield, New Mexico.

The Titans are coached by head coach Jarrod Wyatt and assistant coaches Keve Goodall and Jason Wayman.
