Montezuma Land Conservancy has begun the process of updating its Strategic Conservation Plan.
MLC will gather community voices through an online survey, interviews and community focus groups throughout Montezuma and Dolores counties in an effort to better understand the various ways the community connects to the land and how community values can inform future projects. The organization hopes to collect feedback as many people across the community as possible.
Montezuma Land Conservancy has helped 75 families to protect 46,000 acres, and nearly 1,600 youths have attended programs at Fozzie’s Farm, MLC’s educational facility in Lewis. MLC is also involved with Carpenter’s Natural area and Hawkins Preserve and helps lead the Montezuma Inspire Coalition.
The project is funded by Great Outdoors Colorado through their Resilient Communities Grant Program.
The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete. after completing the survey, participants may register for a drawing to win an overnight stay at a local Airbnb and an Osprey Transporter 65 duffel bag.
