Montezuma fairground adjusts alcohol, marijuana policy

The Montezuma County Commission requires 90 days’ notice to market marijuana at the fairgrounds.

The Montezuma County Commission adjusted its fairgrounds policy to address marijuana and alcohol.

Sales, use or marketing of alcohol, marijuana or any legal intoxicating or mind-altering substances must obtain prior approval from the commissioners at least 90 days before the event.

The change was made after marijuana and alcohol retailers inquired whether they could advertise at fairground events. Unincorporated county has a ban on marijuana retail sales and commercial grow sites of marijuana.
