Montezuma County plans workshops for outdoor recreation plan

Montezuma County plans to host two outdoor recreation workshops facilitated by RPI Consulting.

The first, on Tuesday, May 16, is set for 6-7:30 p.m. at the Dolores Public Library, 1002 Railroad Ave. The second is Wednesday, May 17, at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds, 30100 U.S. Highway 160.

The workshops are identical. They will include presentations and discussion of analysis conducted for the Outdoor Recreation Use and Economic Impact Study and Strategic Plan.

The study will inventory outdoor recreation and heritage tourism assets, quantify economic impacts of key assets, and plan for physical asset/business development projects that will boost the outdoor recreation industry and heritage tourism.

During fall 2023, further outreach will be conducted around each of the priority projects in order to develop implementation plans and to rally community members and other partners who will make the projects happen.
