Montezuma County ‘currently overbooked’

Attempting to fulfill all the demands coming down the pike to our area, that being Montezuma County and surrounding towns, is like having one toilet with 100-plus people standing in line.

How we can continue to call people to our area when we barely are able to fit them all, and provide all the demands and needs – ours and theirs – is beyond me. Not pushing against growth, just pushing against saying: “We have everything you want and need, right here. Come on down.”

At any other time that sell might have been true. But when there are very real concerns about water, parking, housing, affordability, life-sustaining jobs, infrastructure and so on that statement is highly questionable. Are we attempting to provide beyond our means? Are we saying we are prepared when we are not? It is my opinion that yes, we are.

And still, we keep waving them all in. Doesn’t make sense. Maybe we could do business like a restaurant. Want to live here? Please, leave your name, phone number and address. We will contact you should a house for rent or sale become available that fits your needs. We are currently overbooked. Our “menu” prices change daily. Thank you, for your interest.
