The San Juan Basin Farm Bureau will host a Meet the Candidates Night on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Montezuma County commissioners meeting room, 109 W. Main St., Cortez.
All the candidates representing Montezuma County have been invited, said organizer Dorothy Porter, even if they are running unopposed.
Invitees include District 3 commissioner candidates Samulski and Stevenson and District 2 commissioner candidate Kent Lindsay, who is unopposed; 22nd Judicial District Attorney candidate Republican Matt Margeson, unopposed; Colorado House of Representatives District 58 candidates Democrat Seth Cagin and Republican Marc Catlin; U.S. Senate candidates Republican Cory Gardner and Democrat John Hickenlooper; and District 3 U.S. Congress candidates Democrat Diane Mitsch Bush and Republican Lauren Opal Boebert.
“I hope they all show,” said Porter. “We have had a good response from the candidates.”
The format will be all audience questions with a moderator, she said. The idea is to have a back-and-forth discussion between the candidates and citizens on local issues and ideas.
“The only requirement is that the conversation and questions be polite and civil,” Porter said. For more information, call 970-565-8640.
