Montezuma County 4-H recently took multiple competitors to the Colorado State Fair, where many of the participants were named reserve champion and grand champion, among other notable rankings.
Tierney Wilson, Montezuma CSU 4-H development extension agent, told The Journal that it was an exciting event for the qualifying students from Montezuma County. The fair took place Aug. 23 to Sept. 2 in Pueblo.
“We sent 43 projects up to the Colorado State Fair, 12 for shooting sports and four 4-H members to show livestock,” Wilson said.
Zane Brown, Jace Gray and Annabelle Tallent competed in archery’s Junior Compound Limited, Tyler Lindsay competed in Junior Traditional Recurve, Coulter Weyand competed in Senior Traditional Recurve and Rusty Snyder, Parker Conrad and Audree Butler in Senior Compound Limited.
Weyand and Kuenzler placed first in the respective divisions.
Zye Kuenzler, Connor Rosenbaugh, Eli Jarmon and Lancer Oliver competed in shotgun.
Livestock participants were Danika Oliver (sheep), Presley Oliver (goat), Dannika Goodall (sheep), Abrie Spruell (goat) and Kaydence Spruell (swine). Abrie Spruell placed third overall in the Junior Goat Showmanship Division.
Results were removed and will be replaced with accurate results on Monday.
The enrollment period for the upcoming year of 4-H starts on Oct. 1.
