Retired music educator and Montezuma Cortez High School Band Director Rodney Ritthaler was recently awarded the prestigious Colorado Bandmasters Association’s 2020 Hall of Fame Award.
Ritthaler retired from M-CHS in 2018 after a successful teaching career. This honor is awarded to one Colorado band director each year. Ritthaler is only the 45th music educator to receive this award since 1976.
The 400-member Colorado Bandmasters Association was asked to vote for this year’s award recipient, and Ritthaler was inducted into the CBA Hall of Fame at the annual convention membership meeting July 17.
