Montezuma-Cortez High School senior Brady Dale has been named a recipient of the highly competitive Daniels Scholarship, one of the most selective awards in the U.S., the school said in its daily announcements Tuesday.
Dale was among 3,600 applicants from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming vying for the scholarship. Only 156 applicants were from Colorado, and Dale emerged as one of just two recipients from Southwest Colorado to secure the honor.
Dale was noted as an active member of the National FFA Organization and a standout athlete in football and baseball. He plans to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The Daniels Scholarship, administered by the Daniels Fund, provides recipients with up to a full ride to college. It covers the entire cost of attendance at partner schools or up to $100,000 at other accredited institutions. Candidates are evaluated based on leadership, character, community service and academic potential.
