The Colorado Energy Office announced that Phase One applications for the Community Accelerated Mobility Project are open, which can help remove barriers for community mobility projects that involve electric transportation.
With the help of Community Access Enterprise, CAMP’s purpose is to help expand zero-emissions in the state.
CAE invests in equitable access to transportation infrastructure by supporting rural, urban and disproportionately impacted communities.
Their business purpose indicates they will construct and install EV charging infrastructure and provide financial incentives and assistance to make it possible for vehicle owners of older, less fuel efficient and higher polluting vehicles to obtain EV and electric alternatives to motor vehicles and public transportation.
Ed Piersa, CAE’s program manager, said in an email that they plan to work with eligible entities that meet one or more of the following:
- Local or county governments with a demonstrated interest in developing a community mobility plan to benefit community members.
- Tribal governments.
- Community-based organizations and nonprofits with strong community connections and experience working on mobility issues.
According to a CEO news release, stakeholders provided feedback from CAE’s 10-year plan that a need is required for financial support to develop community-informed plans. The stakeholders also wanted to see outreach to maximize the benefits of the community-based electric mobility projects. Because of this, CAMP grants will be awarded in two phases: Phase One that are technical readiness planning grants and Phase Two will be implementation grants.
During the first round of Phase One applications, CEO expects to award close to $300,000. Phase Two grant applications are expected to launch in early 2024.
CEO anticipates that annual funding will continue beyond 2024.
The first application round for Phase One CAMP grant funds will close on Oct. 27, 2023 at 5 p.m.
Additional information and application materials can be found on the CAMP website.
