FARMINGTON – The Farmington Police Department helped the Minnesota Department of Corrections Fugitive Unit find a man who has been on the run for two years.

On Thursday, Farmington Police received a call from the Minnesota department about 37-year-old Dale Francis Boyum Walters possibly being in the area, according to a news release issued by the Farmington Police Department.

Walters had a felony warrant for a parole violation. The original charges included two counts of disarming a police officer and a second felony warrant for possession of child pornography, according to the release.

Nicole Brown, spokeswoman for the Farmington Police Department, said in an email Monday that the Minnesota department received a tip and followed up on it. Within less than five hours, Brown said several officers including a K-9 worked together to contact and arrest Walters, and did so safely.

Walters is in custody at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center where he awaits his extradition to Minnesota.
