The Cortez Bass Masters are two tournaments into their season after hosting events at McPhee Reservoir on May 21 and again on June 18.
Mike Carver was the big winner of the opening tournament after reeling in 4.30 total pounds. He also brought in the biggest fish at 2.42 lbs. Steve Lang finished in second place with 2.35 lbs.
Lang nearly tripled his catch in the June tournament by bringing in 6.36 lbs., but he was bested by Wade Jordan to finish in second place again.
Jordan tallied a total weight of 12.82 lbs. to win, and he also secured the biggest catch of the day with a fish at 2.99 lbs. Sandi Rogers finished in third place with 5.0 lbs.
The Cortez Bass Masters will hold a Bass meeting on Wednesday, July 20 at the American Legion at 320 North Harrison St. in Cortez, and their next tournament will be on July 23.
There are five tournaments scheduled for the year and all are held on McPhee Reservoir. Each angler may weigh in five fish meeting McPhee regulations to be measured on a flat board.
Members receive 20 points for a total of 200 possible points for attending meetings and for tournaments they receive 100 points for first place, 99 points for second, etc. with a total of 400 possible points.
Each angler is allowed to drop two meetings and one tournament. The qualifying points and pound format determine the angler and co-angler of the year.
