The Journal

The community is invited to a “Leather Tooling — Wanna Try It?” presentation by Nihla McCabe, leather craftswoman, at the Mesa Verde Back Country Horsemen meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at First National Bank, 2258 E. Main St. Appetizers will be served at 6:30 p.m. Attendees should bring their own drinks.

McCabe has been tooling and stamping leather for about 20 years. She will teach a keychain-making class, and she will demonstrate what it takes to tool leather. Bring a basic set of tools and a small stone and mallet if possible. McCabe will have a spare, two stones and several swivel knives available.

McCabe will also have several different craft kits from Tandy on hand. Donations will go to Mesa Verde Back Country Horsemen. For more information, visit www.mesaverdehorsemen.com.
