MB McAfee is our strongest candidate

On Sept. 6, the candidates for Montezuma County commissioner participated in a forum at the Dolores Community Center sponsored by KRTZ/KFVC and the Free Press. All questions to the candidates came from the floor.

At the forum, it was evident that MB McAfee’s knowledge of the issues raised by the audience was considerably greater than those of the other candidates. McAfee’s responses to questions on the issues were informed, thoughtful, constructive and fiscally conservative. They were rational, not ideological.

Montezuma County would be well served by McAfee as a commissioner.

It is imperative that commissioners effectively interact with state and national officials. McAfee can do that on a higher level than the other candidates because of their lack of knowledge about the issues and inexperience with government organization and processes. This is important because several issues facing the county involve state and federal agencies. McAfee is the strongest candidate for this role.

We need a commissioner who will lead and be approachable, not a “you can call or text me when necessary” commissioner. McAfee would be a dedicated, full-time representative of the constituency, and promises to be accessible with offices convenient to the constituency, as well as by phone or by email.
