A Marvel man was arrested early Saturday after a standoff with La Plata County Sheriff’s deputies.
Brock Ottenbacher, 31, was arrested at his home on the 300 block of County Road 135 on suspicion of felony menacing involving domestic violence, said Sgt. Steve Reiter with the Sheriff’s Office.
Someone called 911 around 8 p.m. to report a man shooting at people in the home. Deputies confirmed that shots were fired, but no one was injured. They are investigating if Ottenbacher was attempting to hurt someone.
Law enforcement officers evacuated two adults from the home shortly after they arrived. “We had numerous officers on scene,” Reiter said.
Ottenbacher’s two small children remained in the house with him.
Negotiations with Ottenbacher lasted for about five hours, Reiter said. Officers with Durango Police Department and a trooper with Colorado State Patrol assisted, he said.
Ottenbacher came out of the house at 12:45 a.m.
A flight-for-life helicopter was called in during the standoff, but it was not needed, he said.
