Summer weather and Third Thursdays are coming soon. This year, the summer event will start June 19, and the Cortez Retail Enhancement Association requests that residents mark their calendars.
Like its name suggests, Third Thursdays take place on the third Thursday of each month in the summer, and features music, giveaways, drinks, dancing, food, vendors and more for attendees.
After June, Third Thursday will be held July 17, Aug. 21 and Sept. 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Montezuma Park, at the corner of Market Street and Montezuma Avenue.
“Bring the family, bring a friend, bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy,” CREA said. “We have an incredible and diverse lineup of music for the season. Explore a variety of vendor booths with unique items to sell and community information to share. Sample delicious brews, bites and beverages throughout the evening.”
Third Thursdays is presented this year by CREA, the city of Cortez and First National Bank, in partnership with KRTZ Radio.
During each Third Thursday event, KRTZ will have Kelly Turner on the radio live remote broadcasts from the park. Mesa Verde Country is Third Thursday’s power partner for tourism and lodging and will be at the event for giveaways and to offer local information.
“Being a Third Thursdays vendor is a great way to showcase your local business or organization, create new customers and enjoy terrific music and community spirit,” CREA said.
This year’s vendors are being organized by the city Parks and Recreation Department. Reserve a space or view the new vendor packet at www.cortezco.gov/948/third-thursdays.
CREA also “may cover” the cost to be a vendor if the vendor is a Cortez-based business, and leave business cards, menus, flyers and other marketing material at the CREA Cortez table. Learn more by emailing info@shopcortez.com and visiting online at www.shopcortez.com/third-thursdays/.
