Marching season ends for band

Marching Panthers wrap up season with first-place finish

The Montezuma-Cortez marching band wrapped up its season over Halloween weekend with two competitions at Dixie State University in St. George, Utah.

On Friday, Oct. 30, the Panthers participated in the Red Rocks Festival, placing fifth overall among Class 2A bands. They placed third in music execution, second in guard, and fourth in percussion.

On Saturday, the marching band took part in the BOA Regional competition, taking home first place in the Class 1A division.

The band also won outstanding music, GE and visual awards to go along with its first place overall.

Band director Rodney Ritthaler said that while marching season is over for the most part, the band has a few local parades left. Concert band began on Monday.
