Mancos Valley Distillery hosts acoustic rock musician Brown

For The Journal

The Mancos Valley Distillery presents Justin Brown and his acoustic rock, on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Doors open 5 p.m., and music starts at 6 p.m. Cover charge is $3, and “Tastes like Friday” cocktail specials will be available.

Brown’s first guitar was given to him by his uncle when he was just 8 years old. His uncle shared his extensive music collection that allowed Brown to experience everything from Bruce Springsteen and U2, to Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. As a teenager growing up in the ’90s, Brown was heavily influenced by the Seattle sound of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. As he grew older, Brown expanded his musical tastes extensively into jazz, bluegrass, and classic blues. With almost 20 plus years playing guitar, he has become a well-rounded and thoughtful player who tries to encompass all the sounds that have had an impact on his playing style.

Brown currently lives in the Farmington area and is part of the bluegrass band Secondhand Strings.
