Mancos track teams take part in Red Rocks Invitational

Grace Manning finishes third in 800 meters, second in 1,600

Shaking off the rust after what was a long and cold winter, the Mancos High School boys and girls track teams participated in the Red Rocks Invitational track meet in Moab on Saturday and produced solid results.

Among the top performers for Mancos was sophomore Grace Manning, who performed admirably in route to a second-place finish in the 1,600-meter run (5:54.45) and a third-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:36.63).

Also cracking the Top 10 in two individual events for the girls team was freshman Hannah Sparks, who placed third in the long jump (14 feet, 6 inches) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (30.47).

On the boys side, Mancos was led by senior Caden Galloway, who placed third in the long jump (5 feet, 8 inches) and sixth in the long jump (17 feet, ½ inch).

Junior Breccen Morelli crossed the line fourth in the 200-meter dash (24.95) and seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.29), and freshman Mike Velasquez placed seventh in the discus (80 feet, 7 inches).

Next up for the Mancos track teams will be the Center Invitational, which will take place in Monte Vista on Friday.
