The Mancos Board of Trustees is scheduled to adopt a 2019 budget and set the mill levy rate at its regular meeting, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m.
The city anticipates $2.8 million in capital projects in 2019. The 2019 preliminary budget shows total expenditures of $4.89 million and revenues of $3.38 million, including the general fund, water fund, sewer fund and conservation trust fund.
Revenues are projected to increase in 2019. The 2019 budget lists an increase of more than $1 million in the “other revenue” category, which excludes taxes and fees, compared with 2018. The other revenue category in 2019 is set at $1.54 million, contrasted to $504,000 in 2018.
The streets budget will see a substantial increase in spending in 2019. Mancos is set to spend $1.6 million on streets in 2019, compared with $230,000 in 2018 and $440,000 in 2017. There are three anticipated streets capital projects: $1.32 million for a Main Street bridge, $150,000 for paving and $80,000 for grading.
The Mancos water fund for 2019 is unbalanced due to large capital projects. The city expects revenues of $590,000 and expenditures of $1.58 million, but there is a beginning balance of $1.97 million to help cover the capital projects. The additional expenses in 2019 will go toward a $1 million water tank, $200,000 in water lines and $10,000 for leak detection.
The property tax mill levy is expected to be set at 9.443 mills for each dollar of total valuation for assessment of all taxable property in Mancos.
