Join artisan Janice Reich on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and make a gourd rainstick. Using a 12- to 14-inch snake gourd, you will be creating the sound of falling rain when it is slowly turned upside down. You will create your own design with dyes, acrylics, leather and embellishments.
This workshop will be held in the artist workshop in Mancos. Cost is $55 and materials are included.
Join artisan Janice Reich on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to design a gourd bowl using cutting, carving and inlaying techniques. Take home a beautiful bowl to decorate your table or mantle place. Learn how to use ink dyes and various other dyes, carving techniques. Adding treatments such as horsehair or pine needles will also be covered.
This workshop will be held in the artist workshop in Mancos. Cost is $75 and materials are included.
Join Brooklyn-based designer Kelly Horrigan to create a unique wall totem using natural materials such as leather, semi-precious stones, feathers, wood, bone, antique beads and found objects. Learn the healing properties behind the materials and create a hanging to re-connect with the deep spirit of nature.
This workshop will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 28 at the Mancos Public Library. Cost is a $60 registration fee plus a $60 material fee the day of the class.
Join Brooklyn-based designer Kelly Horrigan to create unique statement jewelry using traditional leatherworking methods. Learn to integrate semi-precious stones with leather using traditional lacing techniques and walk away with a statement necklace or cuff bracelet of their own.
