Mancos plans harvest celebration

Community potluck to line streets

Get your favorite dish ready and head on over to Grand Avenue in Mancos.

The town of Mancos will close off the streets and you can dine Sunday, Oct. 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the streets.

Mancos Town Administrator Andrea Phillips said this will be a great opportunity to enjoy the fall weather and meet new people.

"We are inviting everyone," Phillips said.

The potluck is a coordinated effort between the Mancos Creative District, The Mancos Public Library and the Mt. Lookout Grange.

The idea is to bring a table, chairs, plates and a dish to share.

There is a contest for the best centerpiece. Judging begins at 5 p.m. and setup begins at 4:30 p.m.

"Other communities have done this and I hope it is a big success here," Phillips said. "Let's line Grand Avenue with tables."

The library is expected to have activities for children.

"What a great way to meet new people," Phillips said.
