Mancos eyes public safety on U.S. 160

The safety of the U.S. Highway 160 Corridor will be discussed Thursday, April 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mancos Community Center, 130 Grand Ave.

"We are really seeking public input," said Mancos Town Administrator Andrea Phillips.

Phillips is hoping the meeting will generate ideas about new access points for the highway corridor, including bike and pedestrian safety.

"We are going to talk about the whole corridor," Phillips said.

Seventy percent of the town's sales tax comes from that corridor.

The Colorado Department of Transportation will talk about pedestrian and bike safety at the meeting.

"We want to create more opportunities for access," she said."I really want to talk about ways to make it more inviting and attractive."
