Mancos Citizen of the Year nominations sought

Deadline to submit is Dec. 1
Nominations are being sought for this year’s Mancos Citizen of the Year. Last year’s award recipient was Pastor Craig Paschal from the Mancos United Methodist Church.

The Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2019 Citizen of the Year.

The award has been in place for over 30 years and recognizes someone who “has made Mancos a better place to live or has been a positive role model in the community,” according to Maggie Goodell, the chamber’s director.

Nominees should either live or work in the Mancos Valley.

Recent recipients have included Pastor Craig Paschal from the Mancos United Methodist Church, local music teacher Andrew Saletta and Linda Simmons, who had served on the Mancos Valley Historical Society for two years and as secretary of the Mancos Creative District and the local chapter of PEO International, a women’s philanthropic organization.

The application form to nominate someone can be found on the Mancos Valley website, with a submission deadline of Dec. 1.

Forms should be enclosed in a sealed envelope with the words “Citizen of the Year” on the outside, and can be dropped off at the Mancos Valley Visitor Center, 101 E. Bauer Ave., or by mail to the Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 494, Mancos, CO 81328.
