The 35-member Mancos Valley Chorus returns to Cortez and Mancos this December for another series of joyful holiday concerts. The theme of this year's concerts is Home for the Holidays. The program includes songs that cater to the young and young-at-heart, such as "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas," and classics such as "I'll be Home for Christmas." Each concert is followed by a reception, where the audience can talk with Chorus members over punch and refreshments. Concerts are free and open to the public.
"We have some surprises in store for the audience this year," said Kriss Larsen, director of the Chorus. "The chorus members have been practicing all fall. They look forward to sharing a variety of traditional and contemporary holiday songs with the community."
Concerts are scheduled for Dec. 7 through 13 and include a concert for residents of the Valley Inn in Mancos; two afternoon family concerts in Mancos; and two evening concerts in Mancos and Cortez.
In addition, a Tuesday afternoon concert is scheduled at the Mancos Opera House for the students at Mancos Elementary School.
