This Sunday evening, the Mancos Brewing Co. will host The Snowy Plovers and their program of varied music stylings.

The band, made up of Shanti Savage and Erik Nordstrom, will be “joined by everyone’s favorite bass player,” Jeff Hibshman, on Sunday night.

The group will play their set from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The evening will feature Americana style music, including old time, classic country, bluegrass, alternatives and originals.

Seeing the group play in public is a rare occurrence, according to Nordstrom. The band chose their name after the bird called the Snowy Plover, which they attribute to their music style.

“Shanti and I came up with our band name during one of our many trips to the West Coast, which has areas roped off to protect the natural habitat of snowy plovers. We like to think of them as a slightly ticked off sea bird. Perhaps this is reflected in our selections of hard-bitten old-time music and Americana,” Nordstrom said. “We love playing with Jeff Hibshman, who brings his own West Coast vibe to the band. We rarely come out of hiding, and we hope to see you at the show.”
