The Mancos Town Board on Wednesday approved new signs and bonuses in a short meeting Wednesday, Nov. 14.
After opening procedures, Town Administrator Heather Alvarez informed the Board that the electric vehicle charging station was on target to be available for use by Nov. 30. The cost of the installation is $29,445, but the town received a grant from Charge Ahead of $9,000.
Next on the agenda was a discussion of the Mancos Creative District’s project to install set of signs to help travelers find their way in Mancos. The original plan called for 17 signs at a cost of nearly $13,000. The final quote, however, is for 11 signs costing about $6,800 installed. Alvarez recommended that the board contribute $2,000 toward the project, and the board approved it.
The board also considered year-end bonuses for town staff. The discussion included a comparison of cost of living salary increases with year-end bonuses. Several trustees favored a 3 percent bonus because it is a more flexible and fiscally prudent approach. Trustee Betsy Harrison recommended a 4 percent bonus, stating the town staff was short-handed and eight people were doing the work normally handled by 13. A motion to that effect was made and passed.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40.
