The town of Mancos has teamed up with Fast Track Communications to provide free high-speed internet from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at Boyle Park.
Mancos students and families are yet facing another hurdle during this challenging year. Twenty percent of families surveyed by the Mancos School District indicated they do not have reliable internet access at home.
Without internet access, many students will not be able to continue their education online if needed. To help bridge the gap, The town of Mancos is providing the wireless equipment and setup. FastTrack Communications, a subsidiary of the energy cooperatives La Plata Electric and Empire Electric Association, is providing a 100 mbps dedicated internet connection for the secure guest wireless network.
“We’re doing this at no cost. We want to be a good partner and we understand that there are so many kids who may get left behind since they don’t have connectivity yet,” said Kelly Hebbard, FastTrack Communication’s general manager.
