Breezy Obletz has opened Main Street Emporium in Cortez.
The shop is offering gifts, clothing, jewelry, home decor and other items. Obletz primarily stocks items that are locally or organically made or give back to a charitable cause, she said.
The Corner Store shop started in 2015 on the corner of Elm and Main streets, but the family sold that building and Obletz moved the store to the east side of town. When Susie’s Gifts closed several months ago, she jumped at the chance to move back downtown, Obletz said.
“It’s a perfect location,” she said. “I wanted to provide downtown with something more funky.”
The shop had a soft opening this week, with a grand opening event coming likely after Thanksgiving. The front of the building will house Obletz’s Corner Store, while the back of the building will hold a salon and spa. The “Main Street Emporium” name refers to all the businesses together, Obletz said.
The shop also will offer consignment clothing from Crossroads, she said.
Obletz said she is excited to be downtown, close to restaurants and other businesses she respects and admires. Cortez is getting younger, and she is happy to be a part of that movement, she said.
“This store will stay true to our community but will have my flair,” Obletz said.
