Loss of income can change health insurance status

People who have lost income because of the 416 Fire may be eligible for a change in their health insurance status.

People may qualify for Medicaid in 2018 if their income for the year falls under these amounts: single person, $16,750; couple, $22,700; family of three, $28,676; and family of four, $34,600.

If people currently have insurance through Connect for Health Colorado (Anthem), they may save money by reporting reduced income and getting additional tax credits for the rest of 2018. For people whose income drops by 10% or more in 2018, their insurance bill could go down significantly for the rest of the year.
