The Dolores Star
Santiago Lopez has rejoined the Dolores Town Board of Trustees.
Lopez, 53, was born and raised in Dolores. He previously served on the board in 1998.
"I felt a need to get back involved in the community to help better enhance our infrastructure and try and attract more businesses to our town," Lopez said in an interview.
Lopez, who is retired, previously worked for the Pinon Project as a supervisor for family advocate programs. He is an active volunteer, helping out with Dolores Visitor's Center, and as current president of the Dolores High School Reunion club.
For now he is learning the ins and outs of what it takes to manage his favorite town.
"I'm figuring out the process. Right now we are focused on interviewing candidates for the town administrator position," he said.
He does not have a specific agenda for Dolores, but feels improving the tax base and attracting more tourists is always a good plan.
"I don't see any problems that need to be fixed," Lopez said. "The board is really stable and I'm looking forward to working with them to make Dolores a better place for everyone."
