Library got a lot of help at the farmers market

The Cortez Public Library would like to thank The Cortez Farmers Market, Gary and Tina Mlodzik of Kids Need to Read of Mesa, Arizona, The Friends of the Cortez Public Library and Cortez Public Library volunteers

The library was the featured nonprofit of the day on July 23, at the Cortez Farmers Market, and Gary and Tina sponsored the children’s storytime.

The library provided brochures about library programs and sold used books.

Tina, of Kids Need to Read, read the book “Starfish on the Beach” and introduced the Grow Your Library program.

KNTR is a nonprofit that works to create a culture of reading for children by providing books to underfunded schools, libraries and literacy programs across the U.S.

For every child in attendance who submitted a picture of themselves with a book, along with their full name and age, KNTR will donate a book in the child’s name to the library.

KNTR also gave each child in attendance their own book and a copy of Highlights for Children magazine and one lucky raffle winner received a copy of the Starfish on the Beach book, an actual starfish and an Arizona Coyotes / KNTR string back pack

Thanks to all who participated.
