Learn about finance at Dolores library

Lecture series features experts

The Dolores Public Library will be hosting a personal finance lecture series in April and May.

The public is invited to learn about household budgets, credit reports, avoiding identity thefts, home loans and investing.

Library board member Belinda Platts was inspired to organize the series based on feedback from the community.

“It seems like people are always talking about finance issues, whether its understanding a credit report or how daunting it seems to buy your first home,” Platts said. “The series has something for everyone.”

Three presenters have been booked with expertise in the finance world.

Pam Moore runs the nonprofit La Plata Homes Fund Inc., which develops affordable housing solutions and empowers residents with educational tools to achieve home ownership.

Andrew Cuckie, financial adviser for Edward Jones in Cortez, has worked in the finance industry since 2012. He focuses on financial planning for individual investors and small business owners.

Donna Dyer has been an information security advisor for Dolores State Bank since 2004. Dyer is a native of Dolores and has worked in information technology as a programmer, systems analyst, and data processing auditor. She has an MBA and was the information security officers for the Federal Reserve Bank located in Virginia.
