Lady Bears lose 2 on road

Dolores gives up lead to Ignacio

Struggling to find consistency, the Dolores High School girls basketball team dropped two consecutive games during what turned out to be a tough week.

Bears lead early before losing to Ignacio

Kicking off the last week's play on Jan. 30 in Ignacio, the Bears looked played well early before falling apart late, losing 50-37.

Playing solid basketball early, Dolores jumped out to an 8-3 lead after one quarter before taking a 23-13 lead entering the half.

Things quickly went south for the Bears during a tough third quarter however, and after several turnovers and defensive lapses, Dolores trailed 33-29 entering the fourth.

Looking to make a comeback, the Bears were continuously stymied in the fourth quarter, eventually losing by 13 points.

Poor first half dooms Bears in Norwood

Hoping to notch a win on Feb. 1 against Norwood, the Bears struggled to find their rhythm, falling 60-37.

Struggling to contain Norwood's attack early, the Bears fell behind 19-7 by the end of the first quarter and trailed 36-13 at the half.

Playing better in the second half against many Norwood reserves, the Bears hung tough in the third quarter before outscoring Norwood 19-11 in the fourth.

With their record now at 5-8 on the season, the Bears will continue practicing in preparation for weekend games against Ouray on Feb. 7 and Telluride on Feb. 8.
