Kyle Cox sells lamb at national show

Kyle Cox, 19, son of Ronda and Rodney Cox of Mancos, exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky.

Cox has been showing for 11 years and has shown at NAILE for four years. This is the first animal Cox has sold in the Sale of Champions. He also had two other first places during NAILE this year. Cox is a sophomore at Colorado State University and is studying anatomy and physiology. He plans on becoming a chiropractor.

The crossbred wether sold for $13,000 to Feeders Supply Company, Top Breeding, Koetter and Smith, Musselman Hotels, Ehrlers Ice Cream, River City Bank, Sharon and Stephan Maple, LG Thomas, Co-Alliance of Danville and Ted Everett Farm Equipment.

NAILE is an annual event that attracts thousands of livestock producers from across America. More than 200,000 visitors attend the big expo, and nearly 30,000 livestock entries compete in ten species categories. NAILE is the world’s largest purebred exposition in the world, where over $750,000 are won. NAILE is produced by the Kentucky State Fair Board at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. The 2016 NAILE dates are Nov. 5-18.
