Kiselya Plewe heads to state

Freshman golfer finishes third at regionals
Kiselya Plewe is headed for the state golf tournament. She’s pictured here at Conquistador Golf Course earlier this season.

Dolores golfer Kiselya Plewe, a freshman, shot an 82 to garner a third place tie at the 4A Girls Regional Golf Tournament Wednesday at River Valley Ranch in Carbondale. The third place tie qualifies her for the state tournament on May 21-22 at the Broken Tee Golf Course in Englewood.

Plewe won three tournaments in her freshman season, at Hillcrest in Durango, San Juan Country Club and The Hideout Golf Course in Monticello, Utah.

Kaitlyn Howerton carded a 97 and finished as second alternate for the state tournament. Rachel Rime shot a personal best 109. Keyana Matteson did great and showed real improvement in her first year of golf, said coach Dee Wyman.

As a team, the Bears finished 6th out of 14. This was an awesome showing for a first year team, Coach Wyman said.

They were competing at the 4A level because golf only has 4A and 5A in Colorado.
