The K-9 Search and Rescue Team, headquartered in Dolores, was honored to attend a memorial service in Los Alamos, N.M., for Bob Cowen this past Sunday.
Cowen was a pioneer in search and rescue programs in New Mexico, a canine handler, and well-known amateur radio operator. He will forever be missed.
The K-9 Team is celebrating 30 years of service in 2014 and looks forward to continuing to serve the community. Among its many partnerships, the team is working with the Riverside Convenience Store, in Dolores, to make Colorado Search and Rescue cards available to the public. The purchase of these cards contributes to the state’s search and rescue fund and supports search and rescue operations statewide. The one-year and five-year CORSAR cards are available at the Riverside Convenience Store, the Lone Mesa State Parks & Wildlife Office in Dolores and at other local businesses.
