Industrial rezone: ‘Natural treasures over profit’

I urge the Cortez City Council to be more responsive to your community concerns and not change the zoning to industrial right next to the Carpenter Natural Area.

Many people in this community, as well as tourists who also contribute to the local economy, value natural areas. We all share the water and trees. We would all also be forced to share the noise, light and dust pollution. The only thing we don’t share in is the profit.

If Independent Log Co. owner Anthony Moore really cared about this community, he would find a different location and not threaten us with: “We’re all going to get real acquainted. I’m just going to apply again.”

See you all on Tuesday and I hope for community consensus that works to support our community natural treasures over profit. That way, we could all support a more appropriate commercial business next to Carpenter Natural Area.
