Firefighters were responding to a house fire Tuesday evening southeast of Bayfield.
The fire was reported shortly after 5 p.m. in the 4000 block of County Road 523, which runs north-south and is east of Buck Highway (County Road 521), said Sgt. Chris Burke, spokesman with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, which was performing traffic control in the area.
The house was “almost fully engulfed” in flames, according to early reports, he said.
