Harlis Sweetwater Band featuring Hurricane Jake coming to Cortez

Hurricane Jake Heath, who has become a national award-winning bluesman with his latest project, “Hurricane Jake’s One Man Band,” will perform at the Sunflower Theatre in Cortez on Thursday, Nov. 16.

Heath plays the drums and guitar, and sings his blues with influences of swing, jazz and rockabilly, according to a news release from the Sunflower Theatre.

From Huntington Beach, California, Harlis Sweetwater has shared the stage with stars such as Jimmie Vaughan, ZZ Top, Los Lobos, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Everlast, Brian Setzer and R&B/Blues legends Etta James, James Cotton, and Wilson Pickett.

Heath formed the Harlis Sweetwater Band in 2012 and enlisted fellow musicians Jimmy Sena on drums and Jason Holser on bass to form a foundation of groove for his wild, bluesy and intense guitar playing and husky soulful voice.
