Hand to Hand Boutique

Local family opens clothing store on Grand Avenue that’s built on donations

A local family is hoping to fill a need in Mancos with their newly opened clothing store, Hand to Hand Boutique.

Featuring new and previously owned clothing, shoes, and accessories for men, women and babies, the boutique is owned and operated by the Navarro family, who have called Mancos home for the past 11 years.

“The whole family is getting involved in the business,” said Jonathan Navarro with a smile, as his toddler daughter bolted across the sales floor.

Jonathan and his wife, Francisca, said that they saw a need for an affordable local clothing store after the Mancos Thrift Shop closed last year, to make way for Family Dollar.

“They used to have a thrift store in town, and we thought that doing new and used clothes was something needed here,” said Jonathan. Additionally, the clothing business is in the Navarros’ blood. His parents run a clothing store in Mexico, he said.

Located in the old Valley Video storefront on Grand Avenue, following that store’s closure this summer, Hand to Hand builds it sales floor and merchandise through donations.

“We’ve been getting a lot in since we’ve opened,” said Francisca. “We’ve got a little bit of everything.”

Francisca says the goal is to have weekly running specials, like 25-30 percent off every Wednesday, to keep bringing customers in.

Hand to Hand Boutique is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 515 Grand Ave. in Mancos.
